ActNow BC is the provincial government’s commitment to healthy living that encourages British Columbians to make healthy choices through increasing physical activity, improving nutrition, eliminating tobacco use and making healthy choices during pregnancy.
The ActNow BC Road to Health Community Tour is the latest ActNow BC initiative. Created and managed by the Pace Group, this interactive exhibit tour travelled and set-up at community events around the province from July to November in 2007, promoting the importance of staying active and eating healthy. The exhibit combined physical activities with interactive games, informative display panels and a showcase for the many community-based healthy living programs across British Columbia.
The tented exhibit was staffed by a team of 14 enthusiastic, healthy living young British Columbians, who assist visitors in finding easy, personal and practical tips for better health and nutrition and connecting visitors to the resources in their community.
Over the five months the tour was in operation it visited 21 community events around the province and saw more than 100,000 through its tented walls. The Road to Health tour also connected with school kids across the province, with over 52 elementary and high-school classes visiting the exhibit from September to November.
The 2008 tour is now underway.
