CBCF - TELUS Tour for the Cure

The TELUS Tour for the Cure is an interactive touring exhibit produced by the Pace Group in cooperation with The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, BC/Yukon Region, the Province of British Columbia and TELUS.

The TELUS Tour for the Cure promotes the value and importance of breast health and mammography screening. The exhibit consists of displays with information about the prevention, detection, and treatment of breast cancer and information on why screening mammography is crucial in reducing breast cancer deaths.

The TELUS Tour for the Cure was first launched in 2004 by Premier Gordon Campbell and visits communities all over British Columbia each year. The 2008 tour is set to visit 24 communities and will also make presentations in aboriginal communities. The exhibit is viewed by more than 300,000 people in shopping centres, community centres, libraries, airports, workplaces and grocery stores throughout the province.

Each year, the Pace Group is hired to plan, manage and staff both tours as well as coordinate logistics and handle media relations. In every community, the Pace Group coordinates an exhibit reception with local MLAs, community and business leaders and local media to earn the TELUS Tour for the Cure extra exposure at each of its stops.

Objectives:

To educate women about the prevention and detection of breast cancer and promote the value of regular screening mammography; increase awareness in communities across the province about the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation’s work.

Outcomes:

The tour is seen by 300,000 people each year.
